Construction Manager - Field Operations Overview

Summary:
The Construction Manager is responsible for continually improving the company’s execution strategies. This individual will provide tools and techniques for on the job quality assurance and risk mitigation to support successful project completion. The Construction Manager will employ strategic problem solving initiatives and project coordination efforts to execute in accordance with the project plan. The ideal candidate will effectively work with customers, both internal and external, to provide a valued service as an industry expert in both wired and wireless construction services and liaison between interdepartmental groups with Comtech and any external contractors to support all phases of a project.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist field operations personnel with on-site challenges and support through the field operations executive team
  • Deliver and uphold Comtech safety policies and procedures to ensure safety for all job site tasks
  • Lead and monitor work completion throughout the construction phases of the project
  • Develop regularly scheduled project updates and set construction milestones
  • Source, select, and qualify any required sub-trades to ensure quality workmanship and valued business practice
  • Evaluate and inspect all completed tasks on the job sites
  • Perform pre-bid site walks and gather information to assemble the required bid package
  • Create and deliver sound estimating packages
  • Approve operational work tickets when applicable
  • Approve external contractor safety documentation and task completion
  • Direct field operations in executing production tasks according to a documented schedule that meets or exceeds customer expectations
  • Provide support to all Comtech corporate departments for construction initiatives where subject matter expertise is requested
  • Identify opportunities and recommend solutions that will enhance or improve current business processes

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years direct wireless industry experience
  • 5+ years general construction
  • Project Management training or PMP designation considered an asset
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Able and willing to work out of town
  • Able and willing to work at heights of up to 500 feet
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Must pass a criminal record check, drug and alcohol testing including a fit for work assessment.
